This picture is of Boundary Bay looking south from a grass-field private plane airport. An eagle is out of frame to the right making all the other birds (mostly Mallard Ducks) take flight. Many birds over-winter in this area that is only 15 minutes away by car from our home.
Photography notes:
A "normal" exposure for this picture would wash out the colour of the sky. Instead it has been exposed for the highlight in the sky and we allowed the forground to be dark. It gives the mood of a sunrise, even though the picture was made a couple of hours after the actual sunrise.
