This picture was made around 50km south of the Arctic Circle from the Dempster Highway in the Yukon. Autumn comes early in the far north, and it is exceptionally pretty. The distant mountains are the northern edge of the Ogilvie Range. Note that the vegetation that has changed to the strongest colours are close to water.
If you can possibly take a trip on the Dempster, try to do it around the first week of September, that is when the fall colours are out and most of the bugs have died! The highway is, in our estimation, the most scenic in the world.
