Cranberries are harvested by flooding the field with water, the berries come off the plants while underwater and then float to the surface. Fire hoses that are half-filled with air are then used to skim the floating berries to a conveyor that loads them into trucks. Cranberry juice is the most popular end product. When we go hiking we like to bring dried cranberries along as a snack. As cranberries are a good source of anti-oxidents, they are a tasty, healthy food.
This picture was made from the edge of a cranberry field off number 7 road in Richmond, just south of Vancouver Canada. In the distance is Mount Baker in Washington State and in front of it you can see the Alex Fraser Bridge. We live close to the southern end (right side of this picture) of this bridge.
