This picture of ripples was taken from aboard a small boat in Vancouver harbour. The reflections are of the sky and other nearby boats. These ripples are carrying energy from many sources, mostly rocking boats and the wind, across the water surface. If you look carefully, the ripple's slope is generally steeper away from the camera. That tells you that many were generated or reflected from the boat where we were standing.
