This picture shows a small part of a large patch of fireweed just off a logging road in northern Vancouver Island. The plant pops up after a disturbance of the forest, such as a fire or clear-cut. This patch of fireweed, a widespread plant, has filled an area that was clear-cut in the last year or two.
