Vine Maple Leaves

These backlit maple leaves were photographed in the Burns Bog area south of Vancouver. The area is an important area for several species of plant and animal. Unfortunately it is being slowly converted for commercial use, such as industrial parks, cranberry fields and a garbage dump. There is a group, the Burns Bog Society, that is trying to preserve as much of the area as possible. We wish them luck, if the bog were to disappear, temperatures in our neighbourhood could go up as much as 5 degrees.

The original picture was vertically oriented with the branch on the left. It works nicely as a horizontal because an out-of-focus tree on the right acts like the ground.
