Dempster Highway in the Northwest Territories

This picture was made in the Northwest Territories on the Dempster highway in the area half-way between the Yukon border and Fort McPherson. For those with Google Earth, the coordinates are roughly 67 north by 135 degrees west.

As you can see, the plants hug the ground here. The hills are very worn, with only the occasional peak still having steep cliff faces. The camera is pointing southwest, so the hillside facing the camera receives less light than the foreground left corner, which is more densely covered with plants.
