We were fortunate to have had many opportunities to photograph giraffes in the short time we were in South Africa. I was hard to pick among the images, but this couple looked nicely expressive. The in-camera sharpening was a little too strong, it took a little while to find the settings closer to what is our norm.
Notice the shadows? This area (Madikwa) is very near to the Tropic of Capricorn so the sun rises to within a degree of being directly overhead. Thus the shadows are very small, and the sun's light is harsh.
This image was made with a borrowed camera, we would like to thank Tony Chang for his generosity.
