Great Blue Heron Fishing

Previous photograph Back to the gallery page Next photograph

This heron was very tolerant of our presence as it went about its business of finding something to eat. We were able to capture many frames, but this one was the peak of the action as the little fish is just hauled out of the water. Unfortunately the out-of-focus twigs in the foreground could not be avoided. Later, when we moved to slightly higher ground, the heron waded away.
(The fish is more easily seen in the background images)
