This is definitively a spring image, the bird is singing and the blossoms are out. An overcast sky provides soft light with barely any shadows yet the sun was bright enough to put a catch-light in the eye of the bird.
A hint for shutterbugs: an overcast day is great for many kinds of photography and a bright sunny day often just produces unappealing pictures with harsh shadows and washed-out highlights.
