The weather in the Yukon varies quite a bit over a short period of time -- or even over a short distance, for that matter. We found that pitching a tent on a sunny evening would not guarantee a rainless night. While travelling along the Dempster highway, we came across bands of showers regularly. If you find yourself in horrid wet stormy weather, you might just be in the sun only 30km down the road. So sights like this, with the sun striking a rain shower in the distance was not infrequent. The low angle of the sun is just an indication of how far north is image was made, it was in the middle of the afternoon quite a long time before sunset.
