The very narrow and steep Ashlu canyon has many waterfalls, but they are somewhat difficult to get to. The abandoned forest service road is beginning to deteriorate and is probably past the point where most road cars would be able to travel it. The road should be no problem for any vehicle with even a slightly higher than normal clearance. Along the way are steep moist cliff walls covered with Maidenhair Fern. Apparently this canyon is a favourite for extreme whitewater kayakers, but it looks far too treacherous for us!
