This image was taken on a recent hike in the German Alps, on a beautifully clear day as is usually only seen during the fall. the visibility must have been over 100 km or so, the mountains in the far off distance belonging to the Karwendel and Wetterstein Gebirge. The nearby rocky outcrop is part of the 1884 m high Rotwand, a popular mountain in the Spitzingsee area, the trail below leads to the Taubenstein Gondola, which being a near level walk explains the popularity of this peak. The name Rotwand means red wall. On the left edge of the photo is the Schinder, which was previously shown.
