Gentiana asclepiadea, commonly known as the Willow Gentian, is one of Irmgards' favourite flowers. It is native to the alpine meadows of Europe and western Asia, where it blooms in late summer and fall, It likes shade and given the right conditions is a long lived and easy to grow perennial. This photograph was taken in Van Dusen Botanical Garden.
