Broad-Leaf Maple

Previous photograph Back to the gallery page Next photograph

This image shows a typical forest scene for a natural area near Vancouver. The area receives quite a lot of rain which encourages the growth of moss on the trees. The image includes Cat-Tail Moss in the forground with Douglas' Neckera on the out-of-focus branch. Broad-leaf maple is common to our area, especially where is soil is damp and where there is shade - such as in the shadow of mountains. This particular image is made on the north side of a mountain.

Unfortunately, the background of this image doesn't render well with GIF files so we're only providing JPEG images.
