This image shows the typical cover folliage in a managed forest in the Squamish Valley, north of Vancouver, on Canada's west coast. Because of the mountains, the rainfall and temperature can vary quite a lot around the west coast, and so does the vegetation. Although the ferns and other low plants shown here allow easy travel through the forest, elsewhere dense shrubs make travel off established paths very difficult.
