Callaghan Lake

Vancouver has won its bid to host the 2010 winter Olympic Games. The plans place some of the events in the undeveloped Callaghan valley. Current access to the valley is via an old logging road that is no longer being maintained. The road is becoming increasingly rough, you probably shouldn't take an ordinary road car on it any longer. At the end of the road, which is perhaps 20km long, is this wilderness lake. These mountains are on the west side of the valley and follow the length of the road. Unfortunately, the wide-angle lens used for this photograph reduces the apparent size of these impressive mountains.

Approximately halfway along the road is Alexander Falls. It is pictured below, also made with a very wide-angled lens.
