Pitt Meadows

We occasionally like to take our dog, Weston, for a walk along the Pitt Meadow dikes. This area is on the east side of the Pitt River. Since the area is so close to the ocean, the river is tidal even though it is almost completely fresh water. The farms in the area need the dikes to prevent flooding during spring high tides. The dikes, in turn, provide many kilometres of walkways and this is a picture from one of our favorite segments - a 7km stretch uninterrupted by any road.
