Choelquoit Lake

Previous photograph Back to the gallery page Next photograph

This image is very representative of the Chilcotin area of British Columbia. This area is the western interior of the province, up to the mountains of the coast range. Because it is east of those mountains, the climate is dry and the area is dusty. The vegetation has to be able to withstand a couple of months of drought every year. With the winter, the rain and snow comes making sure there's plenty of water for the many lakes in the area. Much of this area is ranch land with only a few public roads (actually forest service roads, you want to have a sturdy vehicle for them).
