Snow Geese Migration

The Bear Glacier is a big attraction on the drive on highway

The Snow Geese pictured here are having a brief stop on their way from Wrangell Island in the Siberian Arctic to Baja California. At their peak, there are as much as 60,000 Geese in the Vancouver area every spring and fall. These birds were actually resting and eating in the marshland adjacent to the Strait of Georgia. We waited for nearly an hour to get a photograph of them on the wing. The thing that set them off is visible in the lower right corner a couple in a kayak thought they would get a closer look.
