Tulips in Butchart's Gardens

Just north of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada is Butchart Gardens, a famous display garden. The Gardens have something worthwhile to see throughout the year owing to Victoria's mild climate. Spring is an especially good time to pay a visit as the fresh leaves are on the trees and the spring blooms are in their glory.

Photographing flowers by pointing the camera into the sun allows you to see sunlight coming through the petals of the flowers. It adds more detail to the picture. Several photographs were made of this scene, both onto film and with a digital camera. The film shows more detail, but the image picked for the website happened to be one from the Canon G1 digital camera. By the way, this picture looks so much better when it is large!
