We recently decided to photograph the gardens in Vancouver that are open to the public. These gardens are the UBC Botanical Gardens, the Nitobe Japanese Gardens, the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden and the Van Dusen Garden. Any one of them provide a pleasant afternoon's activity. The advantage we have, with our proximity and yearly passes, is that we can visit them every two weeks or so and see the changes over time. Expect to see more garden pictures!
This Water Lily is from the Van Dusen Gardens. The site makes good use of open water as reflecting ponds, waterfalls, and hosts of water plants. Its layout also makes very good use of its space, making a large variety of plants fit into 6 city blocks without feeling cramped. The photo was taken on a sunny day with high thin clouds.
